Literary Treasures are considered to be the most important part of the heritage of any civilization. India boasts of such great treasures in different annals of its history. One such great treasure of literary world is found in the Saint Kuriakose Elias Archives and Research Centre dedicated to St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, one of the great Renaissance leaders of nineteenth century Kerala.

The archives have got the collection of many rare books, documents and manuscripts. The books are around 10,500. Large number of written documents are more than 8,000. Manuscripts are about 800. All these are good primary sources for the study of religious, cultural and social history of Kerala. Many varieties of these include the large collection of letters, chronicles, diaries, reports of canonical visitations, collections of account books, details about property, government records, wills and testaments, surveys, plans, palm tree leaves records, collections of letters of competitions in virtue, collection of documents discovered from libraries both inside and outside the country by the Chavara Cause Investigation Committee etc. This literary trove is a great centre of learning for any one with an interest on the past and enthusiastic in re-creating history.
